It’s been a couple of months since the iPhone 14 lineup launched, but there are plenty of leaks and rumors going around for the next generation: the iPhone 15 series. Now, we know that these devices are not expected to drop until fall 2023, so the rumors might not be accurate.

Everything we know about iPhone 15 is so far just speculation based on the leaks and other media reports. None of the rumors has been confirmed yet. Even though these rumors may not be present in the actual product, they indicate the route Apple is likely to take for its next-generation iPhones.

iPhone 15 Series: Models

Just like the lineup of the iPhone 14 series, it is expected that the iPhone 15 series will come with the same lineup, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Ultra And again, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will have the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display.

A rumor has been circulating that Apple 15 Pro Max name might be replaced by “Pro Max” to “Ultra”, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.

Sadly, Apple may not bring back the Mini version which has been debuted with the iPhone 12 lineup and lasted till iPhone 13 series. Later, Apple replaced the Mini version with the iPhone 14 Plus which is a much larger version than the Mini.

iPhone 15: Design and Sizes

We all know how stubborn Apple is when it comes to its iPhone designs. So those who have been expecting a drastic redesign for the iPhone 15 may end up disappointed as the iPhone 15 lineup may look identical to the predecessor. And about the new Dynamic Island, Apple may include that in the new iPhone 15 lineup as well.

As previously stated, the four new models are expected to come with the same display sizes. iPhone 15: 6.1-inch iPhone 15, 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 ultra.

Recently, some reports have pointed out that Apple may swap the physical buttons with haptic, comparable to the iPhone 7 home button. Thy physical buttons are the power and volume buttons. The haptic feedback will mimic the actual feel of pressing physical buttons. You may not be able to use your old cases from the previous iPhone model if the rumor about the haptic buttons is true.

iPhone 15: Processors and Specifications

We expect Apple to follow the same trend with the iPhone 15 lineup for differentiating between the standard and the Pro models. The standard iPhone 15 may come with an A16 processor which has been used in the iPhone 14 Pro, while the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra may ship with the new A17 chip.

Talking about the A17 Processor, according to some reports, TSMC will use a 3nm process. This will not only make the A17 more efficient at power consumption, but it will also reduce the heat during usage. The 3nm will allow the chip to improve the speed by up to 15% and power saving by up to 30%.

Some other rumors are indicating that the iPhone 15 series will get upgraded RAM from 6GB to 8 GB. It is a great improvement for multitasking performance. The internal storage capacity should also change depending on the iPhone model.

iPhone 15: Cameras

We couldn’t find any rumors regarding the cameras of the iPhone 15, but we know that the new iPhone may come with Periscope Lens Technology for the Pro models.

Periscope Lens Technology allows for much better optical zoom starting from 5X – 10X compared to the currently offered 3X on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It would be a great upgrade for many users. But yes, this technology may be only included in the iPhone 15 Ultra.

According to another rumor, the iPhone 15 would be getting an 8P lens, which speaks of the number of components that make up the lens material. Theoretically, this would create a much better final image with less image distortion. But according to Ming-Chi Kuo, this rumor might not be true.

iPhone 15: Charging, Battery, & USB-C

As you probably know that lately, European guidelines are mandating a common charger for all electronic devices, as well as the iPhone, for reducing e-waste. Although the deadline for Apple is 2024, maybe Apple will get it done for the iPhone 15 in 2023.

This is good news if you are also using an iPad or MacBook lineup that has been already transferred to USB Type-C. Also, Apple’s analyst Ming-Chi Kuo seems very confident that Apple will switch to USB Type-C with the iPhone 15 models. But it seems like only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra would benefit from the faster data transfer speeds with this change.

iPhone 15: Release Date & Prices

The iPhone 15 lineup is expected to be announced around September 2023, if Apple follows its typical launch timetable.

In terms of pricing, we should anticipate similar pricing to the iPhone 14 lineup, with the iPhone 14 starting at $799, the iPhone 14 Plus $899, the iPhone 14 Pro at $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,099, respectively.

Hopefully, the prices will stay similar, however, a recent leak states that the iPhone 15 Ultra (Pro Max) will cost $200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. If it is true, then it would be a significant change to the smartphone would certainly need to validate its price with worthy features and tech.
