MacBook Pro OLED: PROLED XDR Specs, Launch Date & Features

The MacBook Pro OLED is finally here, and it is the biggest change Apple has made to its pro laptop in years. Announced on 28 October 2026 and officially named the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, it is also the first Mac laptop with touch support. Here is what you actually get, how it differs from the new M6 MacBook Pro, and whether the extra cost makes sense.

What is the MacBook Pro OLED?

It is a new high-end MacBook Pro in two sizes, 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch, in Space Black or Silver. Both are powered by the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips Apple introduced earlier in 2026. So this is not a faster processor. It is a new display, a slimmer and lighter body, and a new way to interact with macOS.

The laptop goes on sale on 6 November 2026.

The OLED display: what changes

The screen uses tandem OLED technology, so each pixel lights itself. That means deeper blacks and less glow around bright objects compared with the mini-LED panel on the regular models.

MacBook Pro OLED in Space Black touchscreen details
  • Up to 2,000 nits peak brightness for HDR content and outdoor SDR, with sustained full-screen brightness up to 1,000 nits
  • A quoted 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio
  • ProMotion refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz
  • P3 plus Adobe RGB colour support
  • An optional nano-texture finish to cut glare
  • Dynamic Island in place of the old notch

Apple says pixel compensation reduces ageing and burn-in risk. It is a mitigation, not a guarantee, so long-term results will only show with time.

How touch input works on macOS

The touch sensor is built into the display panel. You can scroll with a swipe, pinch to zoom a photo, drag and drop between apps, and double-tap a window to fill the screen. A long press works like a right-click, and the system supports up to ten fingers at once. If you do not want it, touch can be switched off in settings.

Apple is clear that the keyboard and trackpad remain the main way to use the Mac. Touch is an extra option. A redesigned hinge keeps the screen steady when you tap it, and touching the display does not wake the laptop from sleep.

Apple says updates are coming for apps including Microsoft 365, Notion, Canva, Zoom, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve and Blender. Many existing apps already work because macOS turns taps into clicks.

Weight is the quiet win here. The new 14-inch is about 220 grams lighter than the regular M5 model, and the 16-inch is roughly 310 to 320 grams lighter. Touch ID stays, and the camera is still 12MP with Center Stage.

MacBook Pro OLED vs M6 MacBook Pro vs regular M5 models

Apple launched several MacBook Pros in the same week, so here is how to tell them apart:

  • MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display (M5 Pro/Max): OLED, touch support, Dynamic Island, slimmer and lighter.
  • 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6: the entry-level model with the newest chip but a regular display and no touch. See our MacBook Pro M6 14-inch page.
  • MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max (Liquid Retina XDR): the mini-LED models with a notch. They carry the same chips as the OLED version at a lower price. Browse our 14-inch M5 Pro and 16-inch M5 Max pages.

Availability in Bangladesh

Apple’s first sales wave covers 30 countries and regions from 6 November, and local pricing in Bangladesh depends on the configuration you choose: chip, memory, storage and optional nano-texture glass. Bangladesh pricing will be listed on our touch screen MacBook Pro page once it is confirmed. Until then, call or visit MC Solution BD at our Bashundhara, IDB, Jamuna Future Park or Chittagong branches to ask about expected pricing and configurations.

Should you buy the OLED MacBook Pro?

The OLED display and the weight loss are real upgrades even if you never use touch. Touch itself makes sense if you spend your day on visual work, such as photo editing, slide decks, music apps or design tools, and want to move things directly.

Skip the premium if you mostly type, use a mouse, or work on an external monitor. The chip, memory and battery ratings match the cheaper regular model, so you would be paying extra for the screen and the design. Apple also has not announced Apple Pencil support or a tablet mode.

If you want the newest chip at a lower price, the M6 MacBook Pro is the cheaper way in. If you want maximum power for the money, the regular M5 Pro and M5 Max models use the same silicon without the OLED premium.
